Our masterplan for TfL regenerates railway arches to provide new pedestrian links and retail spaces in a thriving part of south London.

As part of a wider masterplan for Copeland Park – a vibrant part of Peckham – produced for a TfL competition, we earmarked for regeneration a row of underused railway arches at the northern edge of the site. North–South connectivity leading into Copeland Park would be improved by punching through some of the existing arches, also forming new links to the planned Coal Line Linear Park. Our masterplan transformed other arches into appropriately-scaled new retail units, including for pop-ups to suit the creative character of the area. This would broaden the bounds of Copeland Park, and extend the high street condition from the high street to the railway arches.

Treating the arches in this way would bring to life a neglected corner of an otherwise thriving area, as well as enhancing the railway viaduct architecture. Our plans are in line with the Local Area Action Plan, which calls for additional retail frontage and seeks to enhance the blend of arts, cultural, leisure, retail, entertainment and business uses that have developed on the site.
