LGA has designed a proposal for a residential development on a corner site in West Hounslow. Having now been approved for planning, the scheme will create 21 new homes with a 40% affordable element. Our design pays particular attention to communal amenity space, including an inviting and accessible landscaped rooftop garden for all residents to enjoy.
Careful consideration of massing sees the building step from six storeys at its prominent corner on Bath Road, down to three storeys in its central section, and rising again to four at the rear of the building facing onto Traveller’s Way. The robust, brick elevations are articulated with set-backs, balconies and recessed entrances that help leaven the building’s presence and give it character. The proposal replaces a single, unlisted dwelling with a selection of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. A basement car and cycle park will reduce pressure on street-parking.
The proposal will bring activity and visual interest to the two streets it faces onto, breathing life into an underdeveloped site opposite the new Rectory Farm Park. The design exploits the site’s location across the road from a 110-acre green space – the biggest new park in west London for 100 years.
