Camden Design Review Panel

London, NW1

Foreword
LGA Director Simon Goode sits on Camden Council’s prestigious Design Review Panel, offering design advice on new proposals to help secure high-quality architecture and placemaking in the central London borough.

Camden Council has appointed LGA Founding Director Simon Goode to its inaugural Design Review Panel. This independent panel of 26 leading built environment experts has been assembled to comment on the merits of proposals in the London borough, with the aim of improving the quality of building and place-making for the benefit of the public.

The panel consists of those working at the highest level in the fields of architecture, landscape design, urban design and environmental sustainability. The panel’s advice is given at the request of planning officers following out Camden Council’s remit of ensuring excellence in architecture and design in the borough.

Camden is renowned for its outstanding urban design and architecture. The borough boasts 40 Conservation Areas covering 50 percent of the borough, an extensive legacy of Georgian architecture, and a progressive attitude towards contemporary architecture and placemaking. The Review Panel will be offering advice to planning applicants during the pre-application process, and commenting on planning applications, to support Camden’s planning officers in maintaining high standards of design and development.
