TFL award LGA with three Lots on Framework
We have been appointed to three Lots on Transport for London’s design and engineering framework. TfL selected us for Non-transport Architecture, Commercial Architecture, and Urban Design. The framework will also be used for procurement by the Greater London Authority, all 32 London borough councils and the City of London. It runs until January 2024.
LGA wins 2020 Grand Prix
Fish Island Village crowned overall winner
We are delighted to announce that Fish Island Village has scooped top prize in the 2020 Evening Standard New Homes Awards. Our work for Peabody and Hill was chosen from 15 category winners to win the Grand Prix. We are especially proud as this is our second consecutive Evening Standard Grand Prix – in 2019 we won the prize for our work with London Square and Peabody at Caledonian Road.
Second LLDC masterplan scheme
Lyndon Goode Architects (LGA) have submitted detailed plans for 31 homes and employment space in Hackney Wick, after winning the project through an invited competition.
The scheme at 119 Wallis Road is part of the Hackney Wick Fish Island Retrospective Masterplan, winner of the 2019 Planning Award for Placemaking at High Densities.
Although nobody could have predicted the pandemic’s impact, our practice is well-equipped to continue operating as normal during challenging times.

Meridian Water, Phase Two
LGA has been shortlisted for the second phase of the Meridian Water project in Enfield, as part of an LDP2 consortium. The scheme includes 252 homes – 100% affordable – and 3,000 sqm of light industrial uses, to be delivered in a way that meets the aspiration for zero carbon by 2030.
LGA appointed to Network Rail

Network Rail has appointed Lyndon Goode Architects to both architecture Lots on its Project Delivery Framework, covering projects and general works. We are one of only three practices to be appointed to both Lots, and look forward to working on rail, retail, housing and regeneration projects. Network Rail is currently accelerating the release of development sites to help support the Government’s new homes target.
21 spacious flats will replace a single dwelling as part of a development at Bath Road in the London Borough of Hounslow. Submitted for planning, the proposed building includes generous private and public amenity including a rooftop communal garden and winter gardens. The design maximises views of the new Rectory Farm Park, which is directly opposite.
L&Q appoints LGA
to £50m framework
London and Quadrant Housing Trust (L&Q) has named the line-up for its new £50m architecture framework, including Lyndon Goode Architects, AHMM, Haworth Tompkins, Sheppard Robson and Allies and Morrison. Upcoming projects for London’s largest landlord will include masterplans, new builds, refurbishments and mixed-use developments.

Award for Excellence in Placemaking
Our work at Fish Island Village helped secure the winning trophy for Placemaking at High Densities, for the Hackney Wick and Fish Island Retrospective Masterplan Team. The Team includes LGA, Stirling Prize winner Haworth Tompkins, CMA Planning and other leading architects. The project, described as “a return to principled city building”, has sought to understand and express the qualities that contribute to Hackney Wick and Fish Island’s character.

Caledonian Road scoops top prize
The Evening Standard has awarded LGA’s Glasshouse its Grand Prix, the highest honour in the publication’s New Homes Awards. The Standard describes the central block in LGA’s Caledonian Road scheme as a “landmark nine-storey block with crisp white exterior and covered balconies”. The Grand Prix is awarded to the overall winner, out of 20 winning projects. Judged by a panel of readers, the flats “showcase everything that buyers are looking for in a home”.

Lanterna on 2019 shortlist
LGA’s Lanterna, the dramatic gateway building to Fish Island Village in east London, has been shortlisted in the 2019 Housing Design Awards. Entered in the Completed buildings category, Lanterna’s herringbone-patterned, hand-cast concrete elevations encompass 16 apartments and a ground-floor restaurant-café-bar that spills out onto a new public square. The award winners will be announced on 11th July at a ceremony led by the housing and planning minister Kit Malthouse.
2019 RIBA Awards
Lanterna shortlisted
The RIBA has shortlisted our Lanterna building – part of Peabody and Hill’s Fish Island Village – for its 2019 Awards, alongside schemes by Heatherwick Studio, Haworth Tompkins and Grimshaw.
Shortlisted projects were chosen from 200 entries, with ten fewer making the cut this year than in 2018. Regional winners will be announced on 20 May.

Fish Island Village shortlisted in three categories
Our work at Fish Island Village has made the cut in three categories in this year’s awards, as part of an entry by the Hackney Wick ‘Retrospective’ Masterplan Team. The Team includes our Fish Island Village colleagues Haworth Tompkins and Pitman Tozer, as well as AHMM, BUJ, Hawkins Brown, CMA Planning, Adams and Sutherland and many more. The Masterplan is in the running for awards for Design Excellence, Heritage in Placemaking, and Placemaking at High Densities.

Appointment confirmed
FCO Services, part of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, has appointed Lyndon Goode Architects to its professional services framework. We will be providing architecture, interior design, space planning and building conservation services for the FCO’s portfolio of overseas facilities, including embassy buildings and ambassadorial residences.

Fish Island Village shortlisted
Fish Island Village has been shortlisted as the Best New Place to Live in the London Planning Awards. The winner will be crowned at a ceremony on 31 January 2019 at The National Gallery. The innovative live-work development previously won the award for Best Affordable Housing Development in the First Time Buyer Awards.

LGA exhibits at the V&A museum
Our latest project, at the V&A, eschews bricks and mortar in favour of a more toothsome building material. LGA is one of around 50 architects building The Gingerbread City. Organised by the Museum of Architecture, this year’s theme is 'future city'.

Haggerston House Extension
We have completed a jewel-like extension and remodelled living area for a private terraced home in Hackney. The zinc-clad extension ‘hovers’ at upper ground-floor level on the rear elevation. It accommodates a south-facing study with full-height window, allowing the owner to work from home in style.
YMCA North London
Major overhaul reaches completion
Lyndon Goode Architects recently completed the transformation of YMCA North London’s fitness centre. Archive photography allowed us to return the 1929 art deco exterior to its original glory after decades of neglect and insensitive additions. A reconfigured interior informed by domestic design creates an unintimidating gym that welcomes everyone.

LGA’s Lanterna building makes Design Excellence shortlist
Our mixed-use Lanterna building at Fish Island Village was shortlisted in the Design Excellence category at this year’s Planning Awards. The residential-led block, which has been described as ‘the pearl’ in Peabody and Hill’s new 580-home development in Hackney Wick, recently won the First Time Buyer Award for Best Architectural Design.

Innovative attic conversion unveiled
Lyndon Goode Architects have completed a profoundly unusual loft extension in a three-storey Victorian terraced house in Hackney. The dramatic, two-level master bedroom suite with double-height anteroom is achieved by reaching down into the storey below the loft. We also renovated the rest of the house, creating flexible interior spaces and introducing a unified, neutral scheme.
St John the Baptist, Slough
Planning submitted for new-build church
We are awaiting planning approval for a new-build church, community hall, vicarage and additional housing in Slough, partially occupying greenbelt land. The development extends across two sites, with revenue from housing on one set to fund construction of the church and community hall on the other.

LGA appointed to ADUP2 panel
The Greater London Authority and Transport for London has launched the new £35m Architecture and Urbanism Panel (ADUP2). Following an open competition attracting 1,100 submissions, we were selected for two lots on the framework, Underground, Rail and Specialist Infrastructure, and Heritage and Conservation. The Panel forms part of the Mayor’s Good Growth by Design programme.

Best Affordable Housing Development
A public vote has endorsed LGA’s work with Peabody, winning the housing provider two 2018 First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards. Our Lanterna building at Fish Island Village won Best Architectural Design, making “a substantial contribution to the local environment”. The entire development won Best New Development in the South, with its “exceptional range of new homes that stands out from the crowd”.

LGA appointed to Torbay Council
Torbay Council has appointed Lyndon Goode Architects as an urban design consultant. The role will see us provide creative advice on proposed new developments in south Devon. The council hopes LGA will help secure high-quality placemaking in Torbay and the English Riviera, a designated UNESCO Global Geopark.

Sunday Times British Homes Award!
Cleverly Estate is Best Affordable Housing Development
Our transformational infill scheme on Peabody’s Cleverly Estate was named Best Affordable Housing Development at the Sunday Times British Homes Awards on 21 September. Judges praised the project as “intelligent” and “sensitively designed”, while the Sunday Times called it “crisp design ...[that] has lifted the whole estate”. Our framework client Peabody pick up the gong for Homebuilder of the Year.

LGA win Planning Award!
Caledonian Road is best mixed-use scheme
Affordable housing, retail and commercial scheme Caledonian Road has won the 2017 Planning Award for best mixed-use development. As reported in Planning Resource, judges praised Caledonian Road for its “good mix of uses” in a “challenging area of London”, and “high levels of affordable housing and retention of affordable working space”. Winners were chosen by an expert panel of 25 senior figures from across the sector.

Erskine Road shortlisted for international awards
LGA’s high-specification mixed-use scheme in Primrose Hill has been shortlisted for this year’s highly respected BREEAM sustainability awards. The residential aspect of our Erskine Road development is set to achieve BREEAM Very Good, while the office refurbishment is on target to receive a BREEAM Excellent rating.
County Hall
Lyndon Goode wins competition for art cinema
Won through invited competition, our appointment includes the redevelopment of County Hall’s upper floors as artists’ studios and film screening rooms. The home of London local government until 1986, this Grade II-listed 1922 building sits diagonally opposite the Houses of Parliament. Our scheme will contribute to the South Bank’s renowned cultural and creative activities.

Lyndon Goode appointed for Hampstead development
We are working on proposals for an 80-home development on “the noblest street in the world”, Hampstead’s Fitzjohn’s Avenue. Our scheme looks to redevelop a Queen Anne-revival mansion and 0.7ha garden in a contemporary development that responds to the local vernacular.

Simon Goode, who was responsible for the delivery of the King's Cross station redevelopment, has been named as a founding member of the acclaimed Camden Design Review Panel. The panel will provide input to major schemes in the borough prior to submission.
A Celebration of Peabody
Architecture and Design
The RIBA will showcase our work for Peabody at an event on 9th February. From its broad portfolio of developments, ours were chosen as examples of projects that “foster well-being through good design [and] well planned neighbourhoods”. LGA’s Lee Green, Cleverly and Fish Island Village schemes will be shown alongside work by Stirling Prize-winner Haworth Tompkins. The event celebrates RIBA’s 2017 award of an honorary fellowship to Peabody CEO Stephen Howlett.

We have been invited to study potential for a prime corner site opposite Golders Hill Park in Barnet. Our design will preserve the garden’s mature trees and respect the local urban grain and architectural vernacular.

A house fit for Christmas
We are remodelling the ground floor of an extensive double-fronted 1930s house in Hampstead. The proposal respects the house’s original features while providing a more open floor plan that gives the owners’ flexible spaces in which to entertain friends and family.

A new destination in Islington
LGA is delivering a major new mixed-use development on Caledonian Road for clients London Square and Family Mosaic. The live-work scheme near King’s Cross will create 252 new homes, retail units and affordable workspace.

Project named as top ten theatrical hangout
The Stage has given LGA’s bar and restaurant at the Royal Court Theatre a glowing review, calling it “a welcoming oasis of subterranean calm…attracting people who aren’t just coming to see shows here”.
YADA
LGA named as founding board member
LGA is a founding member of the Young Architects and Developers Alliance. YADA will see under 35-year olds from both sectors link up and share ideas, with the double aim of developing their careers and improving the quality of the built environment. YADA hosts its inaugural networking event on 24th November in London.

Planning Permission Granted
Our masterplan for 17 contemporary homes on Peabody's Lee Green Estate has won planning permission from Lewisham Council. An exemplary community engagement programme helped secure the go-ahead, following a complex planning process.
Fish Island, Hackney Wick
Planning application submitted
Our competition-winning scheme for Peabody at Fish Island has been submitted for planning. The LLDC's Quality Review Panel commented that "The panel finds much to admire in the architecture of [Lyndon Goode's] building, which promises to be a distinctive addition to Neptune Wharf.
Project wins global design award
World Interior News has confirmed our project at the Royal Court Theatre as winner of their 2015 Awards. The judges, who reached their conclusion unanimously, felt that the scheme "really captures the spirit of the Royal Court".
Competition win for new-build church
The Diocese of Oxford has selected Lyndon Goode Architects to work on two sites in Slough, to design a new-build church, community hall and vicarage. Our studio will also develop housing proposals for two infill sites, with the proceeds from land being used to fund the new construction work.

Working in three cities across the West Bank, Lyndon Goode has been working with the Quartet (UN, EU, US and Russia) and UNDP to look at innovation in affordable housing, including internal space standards and inexpensive materials.

New-build homes near completion
Work nears completion on two infill site projects, on an existing Peabody estate in west London. Based on a concept design by Stirling Prize-winner Haworth Tompkins, the building uses materials that blend in with the local context and a massing that complements the courtyard arrangement of the wider area.

Shortlisted for World Interior News
We are thrilled to learn that we have been shortlisted for the World Interiors News Awards, in the category of 'bars'. Tina Norden, one of the judges, described the project as “Simple, understated and classy. Great atmosphere and design.”
Practice selected by Jones Lang LaSalle
Lyndon Goode Architects has been selected by JLL to look at various capacity studies on an existing estate in Wembley. As part of their work for the pre-application submission, the practice has undertaken a detailed historical analysis of the area, previously the site of the 1924 British Empire Exhibition.
